Online Blackjack Play Rules
In order to learn how to play blackjack, we need to learn the mechanics of blackjack. The mechanics of blackjack are simpler than most other casino games. Each player places a bet before being dealt a couple of cards (dealer gets the same number). Players need not hide their cards since they all compete against the House; all players expose both their cards while the dealer exposes only one. In order to gain victory in this game, you need your cards to add up to 21 (but no more than that). Each card is worth the number on it, with picture cards being worth 10 aces are worth either 1 or 11. Players can get dealt one additional card at a time on request (called hit). If the total exceeds 21, they go bust and lose the bet. They may also stand which ends their turn and the next player gets their turn.
The dealer must turn over his second card in his turn and if he has 16 or less, he has to draw another card (hit). If he has 17 or more, he has to choose to stand. A combination of an ace and a 6 allows the dealer to avoid busting if the next hit goes over 21 due to his being able to assign the value of the ace as 1. Anybody still in the game after a dealer busts wins and if the dealer does not bust, anyone with a higher total than him gets paid even. If all the players and the dealer busts, the House wins. There are hand signals involved in casinos where the player indicates his desired position on the table, whether he is ready to start playing and when to hit.
